analogy
An analogy is a
kind of comparison
when you explain a new theory or concept by talking about another, more familiar
thing. The most common verb to introduce this is ‘to draw an analogy’ which
means ‘to make a comparison’. The lecturer drew an analogy
between the law and the rules of a sport.
